The University of Tlemcen «Abou Bekr Belkaid» organized, this Sunday, May 16, 2024, a ceremony commemorating the 68th anniversary of National Student Day, in which the contribution of students to the success and victory of the glorious November 1 Revolution was highlighted.
The event took place in the presence of Mr. Bachelaoui Youcef, wali of the wilaya of Tlemcen, the local civil and military authorities of the wilaya of Tlemcen, as well as the university family, the revolutionary members, the media family, and the social partners.
In his speech on this occasion, the vice-rector in charge of pedagogy at the university, Pr. Bensaïm Bounouar, affirmed that the celebration of this National Day commemorates the sacrifices of the valiant martyrs who gave their lives for the homeland and stresses the importance of embodying the values of patriotism and belonging in the lives of students to assume their responsibility in the construction of modern Algeria and
For his part, Mr. Badreddine TALBAOUI, representing students, highlighted in his speech the sacrifices made by high school students and students of the time after leaving school to join the liberation war.
In the same context, Mr. Bachellaoui Youcef, the wali of the wilaya of Tlemcen, also emphasized the impact of student adherence to the fronts of struggle and struggle for the Revolution in different fields. He also urged the students to draw inspiration from their ancestors and show a spirit of sacrifice and hard work to build a strong and prosperous Algeria.

The event included a lecture on the struggle of Algerian students during colonialism, as well as an honorary ceremony for the widows of martyrs, exceptional students having won various competitions and sports activities, as well as student organizations and science clubs active at the university for their crucial role in animating university life and promoting communication and interaction between students.
